Enhancing returned results from Solr

We continue to increase our Solr expertise while implementing user-friendly functionality by extending the existing Solr java components.

We now built additional Solr query components to be included in the search request handler. This enables to provide in 1 request, several additional results:

  • did-you-mean query results
  • no-results alternatives

By providing the did-you-mean results immediately, the application enhances the user experience by avoiding the “trouble” for the user to re-query the did-you-mean results. The no-results alternative provides an alternative query when the request resulted in an empty ‘zero results’ page.
